Unconstrained

Recently I’ve been trying to get my mind round how free I am at this stage in life: no small children underfoot, no job that occupies my time and mind, still healthy and energetic enough to soar.

Let me not be like the elephant who doesn’t realize its freedom, thinking the chain that staked it to the spot when it was young is still strong enough to constrain it.

As I sat with this painting, I was surprised how it counsels me to think creatively about the possibilities of life at this stage. I’ve titled it “Unconstrained”.
